The Light of Day concerts are getting bigger and brighter.
Organizer Bob Benjamin of Highland Park has announced an expanded lineup for the Friday, Nov. 4 Light of Day at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, adding La Bamba's Big Band with Southside Johnny and the
Pete Yorn Band.
Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, Yorn, Garland Jeffreys & The Coney Island Playboys, the Jesse Malin Band and Joe Bonanno & the Godsons Of Soul will headline the Saturday, Nov. 5 show at the
Starland Ballroom in Sayreville.
Bruce Springsteen has joined Grushecky during each of the previous five Light of Day concerts.
The Sunday Nov. 6 Light of Day show will be in a "Writers In The Raw" format featuring John Eddie, Jeffrey Gaines, Grushecky, Malin and Yorn, with local talent Dawne Allynne, Joe D'Urso, Pat
Guadagano and Rob Dye.
There will also be Light of Day shows Dec. 12 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood with Jakob Dylan headlining, and late November in Rome at the Big Mama club, Benjamin said.
The shows will benefit the Parkinson's Disease Foundation and the ALS Association's Philadelphia chapter.
The first five Light Of Day concerts have raised approximately $300,000 for the Parkinson's Disease Foundation and the ALS charities.
Tickets, ranging from $50 to $150 for individual shows and $165 for all three New Jersey shows, are on sale through Ticketmaster and the venues' box offices.
